Environmental baseline studies of the physical, chemical, and biotic environment of the Argentine deep sea. High resolution acoustic profiling of the ocean floor (single beam and multibeam echo sounders), high resolution seismic (Sparker) and hydrographic profiling (ADCP and CTD). Direct surface water samples with plankton nets and CTD-rosette. Sampling of seafloor sediments with gravity corer and benthic sampling with box corer and dredge. Census of marine birds and mammals by marine observers covering all the navigation route.
