Capacity building
One of the primary aims of the Challenger 150 Ocean Decade Programme is to build capacity for deep-sea science globally. We are addressing this in a number of ways. Our Regional Scientific Working Groups bring together both experienced and new deep-sea researchers around a single ocean basin for knowledge exchange and shared learning. We are working together to build continental networks of deep-sea scientists like the African Network of Deep-water Researchers to tackle capacity building at a continental level. Our affiliated projects are undertaking local capacity building work.
