Programme‑Endorsed Projects
Under the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021-2030), Decade Projects and Decade Contributions are targeted initiatives that support and deliver the objectives of endorsed Decade Programmes at regional, national, and subnational scales.
The Challenger 150 – A Decade to Study Deep‑Sea Life programme brings together a diverse, international portfolio of such initiatives, all endorsed by the UN Ocean Decade, that advance deep‑sea science, conservation, and training across the global ocean.
Together, these projects address key Ocean Decade Challenges – from protecting and restoring ecosystems and understanding human impacts, to strengthening ocean observations and enabling meaningful society-ocean connections. As a collaborative, multi‑regional effort, they generate new knowledge, inform sustainable management, and help build the foundation for a healthy deep ocean.
